Welcome Back to Term 4

Term 4 2019
Thursday 17th October 2019
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
It is lovely to see everyone back after the holidays and ready for another busy term. We have some terrific learning experiences planned, and the calendar is looking exciting already!
In our Inquiry, ‘We Care’, we will be focused on learning about wellbeing. Initially we will be developing the children’s understanding of the needs of animals and how to provide care for small animals. We will then draw the connection to our own needs and wellbeing. The children will investigate how to maintain a healthy body and mind. They will demonstrate their learning by creating a ‘pet rock’ and habitat; describing its needs and how they plan to care for it. We will have the Life Education mobile classroom visiting later in the term to complement our learning. Go to https://www.lifeeducation.org.nz/ for more information on the Life Education programme.
We will be continuing a tradition of the Year 2 team by visiting the West Harbour Gardens residential home on Tuesday 12th November to sing to the residents. We also have Athletics Day coming up later in the term, on Tuesday 10th December.
To assist
It is compulsory for each child to be wearing a school hat this term. If required, these can be purchased from the school uniform shop. Please name all items of uniform. If your child is missing items, check the lost property held in the cloak bay of Room 17. Ensure your child has a water bottle, their lunch, book bag, and a spare change of clothes, when they come to school each day. Please also note the up-and-coming events in your diary and let us know if you have any questions.
Activity Fees: $16.00. This covers our ZooVentures incursion and the Life Education programme. Please pay this by Friday 8th November Thank You.

Reading Books
Please ensure your child returns their reading book inside their book bag every day. We have been having many books returned to school damaged. Due to the loss and damage to books we have a school policy that we cannot send a new reading book home unless the previous one has been returned.
We will be asking for all reading books to be returned to school by 6th December.
We look forward to seeing you during the term, and thank you for your ongoing support.
Sam Holderness, Joy Gover, Prachi Malhotra, and Helen Ashford
